How does this compare to

The following code came from a PSS request to set up the COM security context before the RCW was called.  How does the new library and features compare?  Is this DLL still needed in .NET 4?

Despite the shared use of the general term "shim", these projects are not related.  DCOMShim gives you more control over security when using DCOM objects from within the .NET framework.  The managed shim wrappers provide managed equivalents for the native "metahost" APIs provided by mscoree.dll (the runtime "shim").
